You remember our post on the Custom Ford Model T Munster Koach a while back. Ah yes that fine George Barris created automobile built for the head of the Munster family. Well this morning I stumbled upon a LEGO creation of the not only the Munster Koach but Grandpa's dragster, Dragula. Flickr member Orion Pax is well known for his LEGO creations of 80's pop culture (Transformers, M.A.S.K., Ghostbusters, Back to the Future etc.) He's recreated many On Screen Cars as well. But it looks like he's given us a real treat from the 60's this time. Check out the whole scene with the house below.
Just in from Masashi Togami and TEAM BTTF: We've received the following email from LEGO congratulating us on 5,000 supporters!
"Dear m.togami, Congratulations on passing this milestone of 5,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO for the Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine! You're halfway there! Over the coming weeks, veteran designer Steen Sig Andersen, the same designer who built the final Shinkai 6500 and LEGO Minecraft Micro World models, will investigate your DeLorean model and build our own concept. We will post the results here with our comments once that is complete. Best wishes as you continue on your journey to achieving 10,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO. The LEGO CUUSOO Team"
On Screen Cars fans we're getting close to reaching the goal of gaining an offical BTTF LEGO set. Not to mention the ultimate goal of helping the The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The group wishes to denote part of the proceeds from each set to the foundation. If you haven't voted your support for the set please do so at the LEGO: CUUSOO site. It just takes a few minutes of your time and doesn't cost a thing.
January 2021 Update
Masashi Togami did in fact get the 10k votes needed to make this a real set. Details up on BrickSet.com
Great Scott! Could it be? An official Back to the Future LEGO set? We can only hope. But thanks to a wonderful project called CUUSOO sponsored by LEGO it could be. Through CUUSOO's site LEGO builders can submit their designs to be voted on to become an official sets. CUUSOO user m.togami has graced us with their awesome design of a Back to the Future Delorean. Note the pictures above and below.
But they need our help to make it happen. Designs submitted to CUUSOO must receive 10,000 votes to be reviewed by the LEGO Group. This is where you come in. For the love of On Screen Cars and Back to the Future Deloreans as LEGO sets PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT TODAY! It doesn't cost anything and only takes a few minutes to register and vote. At the time of this writing we're almost a quarter of the way there! Remember "...The future is what you make it, so make it a good one!"
Imagine your favorite movie cars as Pixar characters! Well the guys over at Next Movie commissioned Old Red Jalopy (a poster designer) to anthropomorphically redesign seven famous movie cars as Cars 2 characters! Seven famous movie cars were Pixarized (is that even a word?). Not sure. But I agree with NextMovie.com, I too smell a concept for some interesting sequel material! Listen up Pixar and Cars fans!
All of the cars feature eyes on their windshields just like the regular Pixar Cars characters. Each of them have a unique smile and facial expression. I like how the artist took the time to make each car special. I can start to see voices and personalities forming in my head for some of the cars. However the pieces that really caught my eye were the Delorean Time Machine, The Batmobile, and Ecto 1! Check them out over at NextMovie.com! Hopefully Old Red Jalopy will have these posted on their site for public consumption too! See ya next time.
Artist Brandon Ortwein asked the question: What if famous TV/Movie cars were sent to the body shop and returned with the wrong parts? Say for example Doc Brown sends his Delorean to the shop and it was returned with a door off the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee? The end result is hilarious. Brandon has created several of these scenarios in his works on this theme. You can checkout some of them below.
Doc Brown: Great Scott! The south must have raised again!
Marty McFly: This is heavy Doc, they must have mistaken us for the Good Ole Boys.
Mr. T: I pitty the foo that thinks we're the Scooby Doo Detective Agency.
Waylon Jennings: Well now it look's like the boys are making a statement: 'They an't afraid of no ghost.'
Which is worse a droid being more than meets the eye or an autobot being part droid?
You can also find more of Brandon's work on Flickr. If you would like to own or wear his designs you can find them on society6. Hopefully we'll see more of his work to come in the future. Till next time, be sure check with your body shop before picking up your On Screen Cars!
