What's up, gearheads and gamers? Every time you boot up an old classic like Need for Speed Underground 2, you probably spend a moment wishing you could port that glorious, neon-tinged aesthetic right into your actual ride. Ok, when was the last time you played NFS:U2? If you're a retro gamer like me, not long ago. But that custom UI, the slick neon glow... and of course, the iconic mini-map. Is still burned into our minds.
Well, one dedicated creator on YouTube, Garage Tinkering, just made that fantasy a real-world mod. In his latest video, "I Built a Real Mini Map from Need for Speed," he tackles a challenge everyone told him was impossible: building a functional, real-time mini-map styled exactly like NFS:U2's on a low-power ESP32 microcontroller with a screen. Unit sits on his dashboard like a in game GPS. And spoilers: it worked. Check it out below!
If you're as big of a fan of off-road driving games as I am, I'm sure you've played MudRunner or SnowRunner in the past. From the creators of those games comes a new exciting game in the series: Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game. Expeditions will expand on the open world concept of previous games, by bringing us more long distance challenges and journeys. While maintaining the co-op online game play we've grown to love. Looks like they're adding in some elements of scientific expeditions, which should be interesting. A ton of new vehicles with customization options as before. From the trailer I spotted a vehicle looking similar to an International Scout! I'm excited to see the stock vehicle offerings expand. Not that there arn't a ton of great mods to add into the current games. Trust me that's a rabbit hole in itself. The new terrain and theming looks fun as well. In the trailer I saw an RV that looks very much like a nod to Breaking Bad. But I'm excited about the new worlds and look forward to seeing what this game is all about. Watch the trailer below and you'll see what I mean. Till next time, keep the shinny side up!
Expeditions will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2024.
Ever dream big? I mean like four or more movie cars in your yard big? Well I do! You can too, thanks to a little game called House Flipper. It's a fun game where you're a handy person turn house flipper. You pickup odd jobs to learn skills and earn cash. Eventually you'll get to flipping rooms and whole houses. Even mowing the grass. I recently picked this game back up. It's a ton of fun. A friend, brought to my attention some mods to allow you to bring famous cars into the game. To say I was excited as a four year old and cookie would be an understatement. How can you get these great assets? Navigate to Big Hungry Chicken's Workshop page on Steam for these add-ons. There's a few on there (Back to the Future Delorean, Ghostbusters Ecto 1, Knight Rider's KITT, A-Team Van and more. Looks like they're expanding their collection. Thanks Big Hungry Chicken! Happy Flipp'n
Looking for something new to do in GTA 5? How about tv/movie car collecting? Believe it or not without modding you can find some really cool on screen cars in GTA 5 and GTA 5 Online. Amazing how even the cars themselves are named in relation to what tv/movie car they go with. Often video game companies have not paid for the licencing to use the official names. For example the 69' Dodge Charger is called Dukes. Very obvious what they were thinking there. But this car could easily be painted/skinned and configured to look like a 68' Charger from Fast and the Furious. Just use your imagination and the sky is limitless. There's been a ton of videos (one below) on this. But I thought I would show some of highlights and give you some links for more information. Happy collecting!
Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters of course. Especially if you play the Facebook Game - Car Town. If you haven't heard of Car Town checkout one of our earlier posts. Otherwise here's another reason to come back or try it out. After today's addition to the game. Guest will now have access to the Ghostbuster's Firehouse! Check out the screenshot above. In the new Ghostbuster Central there are a few new jobs you can do. You can create a team to help you bust ghosts. This will allow you to trick out a ECTO 1 for your collection. The team at Car Town did a bang up job of decking it out the new area. Slimer, A Trap, Protron Pack, The Containment Unit to name some of what content you will see. So what ya waiting for? Get Bust'n!
January 2021 Update
Car Town has long since been dead. Such a shame. Was such a neat little game.
